Get the most out of your 4K experience
Your ZavoBox is capable of stunning 4K (and even 8K) HDR playback — but to get the best possible picture, a few settings can make all the difference. Here's our guide to maximizing your streaming quality.
Network: The foundation
The single biggest factor affecting streaming quality is your network. Here's what we recommend:
- Use Ethernet when possible — A wired RJ45 connection eliminates WiFi interference and delivers consistent bandwidth.
- If you must use WiFi, use 5GHz — The 5GHz band is faster and less crowded than 2.4GHz. Make sure you're connected to it in your ZavoBox network settings.
- Check your speed — For stable 4K HDR, aim for at least 25 Mbps download. For 8K content, 50+ Mbps is ideal.
- Reduce congestion — Pause other devices that are downloading or streaming during peak viewing time.
Display settings on your TV
Your TV's picture mode matters more than you might think:
- Set your input to Game Mode or Cinema Mode (not "Vivid" or "Dynamic" which add artificial sharpening).
- Enable HDR and Dolby Vision if supported by both your TV and the content source.
- Set color temperature to Warm or Native for accurate colors.
- Disable motion smoothing / motion interpolation — it creates the dreaded "soap opera effect."
Inside ZavoBox settings
Navigate to Settings > Display & Sound:
- Resolution: Set to Auto or manually to 4K @ 60Hz (or the highest your TV supports)
- HDR Mode: Enable if your TV supports it
- Match Frame Rate: Turn ON — this matches playback frame rate to the source content
- Match Dynamic Range: Turn ON — switches between SDR and HDR automatically
Quick troubleshooting
